Smart cards are ideally suited for issuance of National
ID with high security. Many countries in the world are already
implementing projects for issuing National ID for their
citizens using smart cards. These smart cards with advanced
technological features including PKI, biometrics and other
unique identification technologies are best suited for the
application.

The
Multipurpose National Identity Card (MNIC) will be a turning
point in the way governance happens. A single smart card
can be used for a host of application along with citizen
identification. A MNIC will
include: National Identity Number (NIN), Name (including
surname, if any), Sex, Father's name in full, Mother's name
in full, Date of birth (actual or declared), Present residential
address, Photograph, Date of issue and Date of expiry
etc.
